Life is movement - life is movement and please do it painlessly

That's what I stand for as your joint specialist

Very early on I was fascinated by our joints and muscles and this is how it has remained for my whole life. Our joints connect two bones with each other and thus provide stability and mobility. The cartilage has a shock-absorbing function. But the actual shock absorber in our skeleton is the muscles - those who train them protect their joints. That's why I believe that "Life is movement" and people should be able to run, jump, dance and somersault, all possible thanks to the more than 140 joints.

It is the fascination for our body that makes me a passionate medical doctor and researcher, because I want to help advance the treatment options: As an experienced joint specialist, as the founder of the Swabian Joint Center, as a lecturer at the elite University of Heidelberg and as a member of the German Association for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (DVSE), German Society for Endoprosthetics (AE), German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU), German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery (DGOOC), German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) and Association of Southern German Orthopedists and Trauma Surgeons (VSOU).

My values - what makes me special

Reliability

With Swabian reliability, sincerity and commitment I am there for you as a patient and your families in the Swabian Joint Center.

Empathy

You're not a number or a case with me. In the Swabian Joint Center I am concerned with the person, his holistic situation with his medical history, his worries, wishes and individual needs.

Passion

My passion for my profession, the joints and the people behind them, is the basis for the success of my treatment.

Security

There is a lot at stake in joint diseases and surgical treatments. Therefore, the safety of my patients is the highest maxim of my daily work as a joint specialist.

Innovation

My Swabian inventive talent and my drive to constantly develop myself further are the basis for medical performance at the highest level.

Foundation of the Swabian Joint Center

In January 2020, I founded the Swabian Joint Center in order to create a contact point for people with joint pain, whether acute or chronic, which takes care of the pain holistically. Expertise and specialization on the one hand combined with an eye for the holistic on the other, that is the key to treatment success. The Swabian Joint Center creates an optimal interface between outpatient and inpatient patient care for the benefit of our patients.

After 20 years of working in Heidelberg at the largest German orthopaedic university clinic, I have a wealth of experience in the treatment of complex cases. Thanks to this experience, I attach great importance to a clean diagnosis, a critical indication and a highly standardized and routine therapeutic procedure.

My research areas

My scientific activities include motion analysis of our joints, novel cartilage and arthrosis therapy procedures, complex shock wave therapy, multimodal pain therapy for back pain, and the development of new, tissue-sparing surgical methods. I want to contribute to advancing medicine. Because through my many years as head of the research group "Clinical Movement Analysis" of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg, I know exactly what is crucial for my patients: "Life is movement - life is movement, and pain-free, please!" That is why my therapeutic endeavors are always guided by the maxim of enabling my patients to restore their pain-free mobility as optimally as possible.
